Currently PinnacleCart doesn't provide a report on what are the most used Key Words to search products on your site, so Google Analytics can be used for this instead. Below is going to provide to you how you would set this up in the Google Analytics.

Applies to Version(s): 3.7.10 - 3.8.2r3 (or Current)

How do I get a Google Analytics Account?

Note: A Google Account is required to use this feature

First you will want to make sure you have a Google Account, this can be done easily by signing up for a Gmail Account. After you setup your Gmail account you can use this link to Google Analytics and setup your Account by signing in with your Google Account information.

What do I need in the PinnacleCart for this to work?

Note: If you're on an older version of the cart and need assistance, please call and we can walk you through the areas of an older version, if you're on a version that doesn't use this feature, you will be required to upgrade in order to.

There are a few things you will need to make sure you have setup in the Admin of your cart, and on your site for this to work correctly.

First thing, go into your Cart Designer and Select Widgets at the bottom of your screen and drag and drop a search box into your site.

Next you will want to make sure your Products have Searchable words at the Product Level in the Admin of the Cart. This will need to be done for all products on your site. To do this you can go into an individual product and scroll down to Search Keywords and add all the words that can be used to search that product on your site.

The other option for doing this if you a lot of Products is to export to a CSV and add the keywords to all products in one go and then import back into the admin.

After you have done this you will want to make sure you Enable Google Analytics in the Admin and to do this you would go to Marketing>Google Tools>Enable Google Analytics (You can also Enable Google Analytics Conversions from here as well).

Follow this guide to setup Google Analytics. Once you have set this up correctly then you will be ready for the next section.

Where do I set this up in Google Analytics?

Great, now we have our Google Analytics account setup and and everything we need for this to work in the cart setup we can see where in Google Analytics to set this up.

In Google Analytics, click on Admin at the top of the screen.

Once there you will see 3 columns with a lot of different options, the option we're looking for is on the Right Side under View, select View Settings.

Now that you're in the View Settings portion of Google Analytics, scroll to the bottom of the page until you see the following:

Where it says Site search Tracking you will want to flip the switch to On

Now the piece that we need to insert here can be found on the Front End of your website. To do this go to your domain.com, use the Search Field we added through Cart Designer and search for a random product on your site. Once you've done this, look in your URL bar at the top of the screen and you will see the String we need:

So copy search_str and paste into the field back in Google Analytics as the image below and save:

You won't be able to view any keyword searches right away, but I would give this time to pick up on Googles end if everything is setup correctly. It can be a few hours or up to 24hrs from what I've seen on their forums for this. You should be able to view your Keyword Search from Reporting>Audience>Behavior>Site Search>Search Terms. There are 2 areas on the Reporting for Behavior, you will want to click the one near the bottom:
